Duraslate | For Cookware

DURASLATE® is the highest quality “reinforced” nonstick system that GMM offers. DURASLATE® is available in a 2 and 3-coat version, and is internally reinforced in a very special manner, using "matrix technology".

What Is Matrix Technology?

Matrix technology is a process of internally reinforcing a multi-coat nonstick coating with specially engineered particles that form an actual structural "matrix" between the individual layers. This matrix prevents the coating layers from separating, even when under heavy stress (like being scraped by a metal spatula.)

Matrix technology is the most advanced coating reinforcement process, and was invented by GMM.

The Problem with "Typical" Reinforcements

Typical "Reinforced 2-coat" on Cookware

“Typical” Internally Reinforced two coat non-stick systems are composed of a primer and topcoat layer. The main problem is that no internal structure “binds” these 2 individual layers together. Therefore, it is still easy to “wear off” the topcoat layer through normal cooking and cleaning, which results in a drastic decrease in food release and abrasion resistance properties. DURASLATE® 2-coat for cookware utilizes a special interlocking matrix of reinforcements that "binds" the primer and topcoat together. This matrix allows the topcoat to virtually fuse into the primer, resulting in far higher durability and food release. “Standard” Internally Reinforced three coat non-stick systems are composed of a primer, midcoat, and topcoat layer. The problem is that no internal structure “binds” these 3 individual layers together. It is very easy to “wear off” the midcoat and topcoat layer through normal cooking and cleaning, which results in a drastic decrease in food release and abrasion resistance.
